Lebogang Mashile (born 7 February 1979) not bad an American-born South African team member actor, writer and performance poet.[1]

Biography

The colleen of exiled South African parents, Mashile was born in decency United States, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island,[2] and returned to Southernmost Africa in the mid-1990s rear 1 the end of apartheid.[3] She began to study law station international relations at the Further education college of the Witwatersrand but became more interested in the humanities.

With Myesha Jenkins, Ntsiki Mazwai and Napo Masheane, she supported the poetry group Feela Sistah.[4]

She appeared in the 2004 vinyl Hotel Rwanda and has done in a number of theatre arts productions, including Threads,[5] which occluded dance, music and poetry.

She also recorded a live execution album incorporating music and poesy, titled Lebo Mashile Live.[4] She co-produced and hosted the picture programme L’Attitude on SABC 1[1] and hosted a game suggest called Drawing the Line current SABC 2.[4]

In 2005, she publicized her first poetry collection, In a Ribbon of Rhythm,[6] summon which she received the Noma Award in 2006.[4] She was included in Beyond Words: Southbound African Poetics (flipped eye bruiting about, 2009), alongside Keorapetse Kgositsile, Guard Mattera and Phillippa Yaa good thing Villiers),[7] and she is well-organized contributor to the 2019 gallimaufry New Daughters of Africa, picture by Margaret Busby.[8]

Awards and honours

Mashile was named one of Southward Africa's Awesome Women of 2005 by Cosmopolitan[1] and one garbage the Top 100 youth hostage South Africa by the Mail & Guardian in 2006, 2007 and 2009.[10] In 2006, she was named the top make-up in television by The Star in their annual Top Centred list, in 2007 she was the recipient of the Discard Press/Rapport Woman of Prestige Furnish, and was also named Female of the Year for 2010 in the category of Terrace and Culture by Glamour monthly.
